Aussies say no to Wahhabi Islam

Australia has recently asked Saudi Arabia to curb its funding of Wahhabi Islam in Australia and the surrounding area.

Saudi Arabia is funding the spread of the extreme Wahhabi version of Islam in the South Pacific and in Australia itself.

The Saudi presence in the South Pacific, although of long standing, is an increasing concern for Western policy-makers.

The Australian Government has had discussions with the Saudi Government urging it to curb its funding activities in Australia's immediate region, and to monitor more closely who gets the funds much.
