Bomb threat on a Germany-US flight:
A jumbo jet flying from Frankfurt to New York has been diverted to Manchester Airport following a bomb threat, police have said.
The Singapore Airlines Boeing 747 landed shortly before 11am without a military escort.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the 293 passengers on board and 19 crew members were being taken off the aircraft by security staff.
She said early indications were that the threat was a hoax, but said the plane had been moved to a safe area where it will be searched.
"We cannot confirm [the hoax] one way or another until full checks are carried out," the spokesman said.
A spokesman for Singapore Airlines said the plane - Flight SQ26 - was diverted after German authorities passed on the threat to the airline.
She was unable to confirm any further details about the threat or whether any code words had been used.
